my name is rakesh prabu thusoo. I am a postdoc research fellow in department of radaition oncology, washington university, st louis MO. Now u people will wonder y the name is laderwani. Let me brief u about it. My forefathers used to live at a place called laderwan in distt. kupwara kashmir, India. They were traders and thus were nicknamed after the area. i will post more information in my next blog.

ReplyDeletethere is a sad news abt the death of our beloved frd, dr harsh former SR AIIMS, EX-RDA president. i know him from he time, we used to meet in gym. he will come regularly on time and we will definitely try to talk on some of the workout regime. then started the time for the reservation and i remember him calling me for the first protest meeting in front of the quad in the AIIMS.

Kumar Harsh, a cancer specialist in Delhi and one of those who led a movement against reservation in institutes of higher education, died in a road accident in Bali, the Indonesian capital, close friends of the doctor said here Wednesday.
Harsh, who studied and did his senior residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), was hit by a speeding car while riding a motorcycle Monday evening. He died Tuesday night.
“We are constantly in touch with people in Bali, his body will be brought back to Delhi on Saturday,” Manoj Singh, head of the AIIMS faculty association, told IANS.
Harsh, who was serving in a private hospital in the capital, had gone to Bali to attend an international conference on cancer. His wife, Shalini, an eye specialist, is now with his body in Bali.
The oncologist had led the movement against 27 percent reservation for other backward classes in higher educational institutes and mobilised students across India under the banner Youth for Equality.
“He was a great fighter and it’s hard to believe that he is no more,” Singh added.
He said Harsh had suffered multiple injuries. Harsh was a native of Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.
It is sad. I also heard this news from other sources. he was an active member of "Bihar Brains" society and contributed a lot for the society with other members of 'Non-resident bihari' group.
